Although it may seem a rarity, it is not an exception, much less to see some peach trees in bloom in the first days of January, as is the case of the photograph we found taken on New Year's Day. These are some varieties of peaches and nectarines with white flesh that show their flowers in these days of January, and practically 50% of the flowers will have sprouted before the end of the month. A prelude to the flowering that we will enjoy in Cieza in just two months.
Twenty days in advance
This autumn, frost has been conspicuous by its absence, in fact, only a couple of them have been recorded since November, the date on which they usually begin every year.
The high temperatures at midday have brought forward flowering, which have been around, if not easily exceeded, 18º. The problem that may arise now is that this early flowering coincides with the frosts that will undoubtedly occur, which could cause havoc to the crops.
