Cieza City Council is firmly committed to flowering and asks for the collaboration of the CARM

The aim is to launch a major tourism project revolving around La Floración, which will give it more impact at a national level and attract more visitors.

Cieza City Council wants to take advantage of the tourist potential of La Floración de Cieza to launch an ambitious plan that hopes to attract many more foreign visitors to our municipality in the months of February and March, when it shines in its maximum splendor.

To this end, the Mayor of Cieza, Pascual Lucas, and the Councillor for Tourism, Antonio Moya, held a meeting with the Director General of Tourism to talk to him about "Floración", the name given to this Plan that has been in the works for several months at the Council, and which aims to promote the Flowering of Cieza through the organisation of important musical, sporting and gastronomic activities, as well as excursions and important initiatives to discover the fields in bloom.

During the meeting with the General Director, Manuel Fernández-Delgado Tomás, and given the large scale of this project, the CARM was asked for financial collaboration and involvement.

The “Flowering” Project is already quite advanced, and combines five disciplines that will allow to unite different cultural and artistic sensibilities around La Floración, such as nature, heritage, sports, music and gastronomy, which will allow to create a parallel but complementary attraction during the La Floración season, with the aim of encouraging everyone to visit Cieza at the time of year when it looks most beautiful.

«Last year we received thousands of visitors from all over Spain and from 5 different countries in Europe», said Moya, the councillor for tourism. For his part, Mayor Pascual Lucas said that «with this project we want to boost tourism in Cieza to give life to the town and for our residents to have fun, our businesses to revitalise their businesses and to share with the rest of Murcia and Spain the wonderful views of the fields of Cieza before the arrival of spring».

The local council has involved its councillors in the creation of this project, which is scheduled to run from 24 February to 26 March, the time when the fruit trees are in bloom.

Lucas said that "this is one of the great tourism projects that Murcia will have next year, together with the Jubilee Year, and I hope that the Autonomous Community supports us in order to get it up and running." The mayor of the town added that "last year our farmers and fields suffered a great blow due to the frost, losing tons of fruit and a lot of money, so this important tourism project around the flowering is a kind of tribute to all of them, those who work the raw material that marks the essence of Cieza and the people of Cieza."

The City Council, in addition to requesting the support of the Autonomous Community in the economic aspect, wants to have a place in the Fitur edition next January, since they consider that "it is a great regional project, and not just a local one, which, in addition to giving work to companies and individuals with the infrastructure needed to get it up and running, involves the participation and collaboration of many entities to make known one of the treasures that we have in our region, our agricultural products, unique in the world."

The International Tourism Fair is a launching pad for promoting Floración, a plan that will not leave anyone indifferent and which undoubtedly aims to "alter the blood" of visitors when the flowering arrives at the same time as spring.
